The HHACA was originally chartered in 1984 as the Hilton Head Chapter of the National Society of Architectural Administrators. The group started with only six members - three of the six original members are still active in the group: Connie Herrman, Beth Lee, Joanne Neely. The group has since gone through two name changes (National Society of Architectural Administrators and Society of Design Administrators) finally settling in 2003 on Hilton Head Architectural & Construction Administrators. This broadened the membership base to include Administrators for Architects, Builders and Architectural Review Boards.
We currently have 10 active members. Our mission is to share information about the architectural design and construction industry and to encourage others to appreciate the fine art of architecture and construction. Each year we have a fundraiser: The Architect's Selected Preview Tour of Homes. Tickets are sold to the public to tour 6 or 7 houses in the Hilton Head area. The money we raise is used to provide scholarships to students from the Hilton Head area who are majoring in Architecture or Construction Management. The tour has been a successful venture on the island for 23 years.
The total amount of scholarship money distributed to date is over $176,800.00.
