1. How did the HHACA get started?

Originally chartered in 1984 as the Hilton Head chapter of the National Society of Architectural Administrators the group had 6 members. 3 of the 6 original members are still active in the group: Connie Herrman, Beth Lee, Joanne Neely.

The group has since gone through two name changes (National Society of Architectural Administrators and Society of Design Administrators) finally settling in 2003 on Hilton Head Architectural & Construction Administrators. This broadened the membership base to include administrators for Architects and Homebuilders.

2. How many members are there?

10 members

3. How was the Tour of Homes started?

The original chapter was part of a national organization and was required to have an annual fundraiser. Jake Lee of Lee & Parker Architects suggested a tour of homes. This would not only raise money for the organization but would also showcase the work of local Architects and Builders. There were 7 houses on the first tour and $1,000 was donated to the Ella C. White Scholarship Fund.
